Personal Key to Heaven

I was touched by this chapter... Prayer can be my personal key to heaven if I allow it to be.

I highlighted my favorite parts.

Chapter 32

Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost—Men must pray and gain knowledge for themselves from the Holy Ghost. About 559–545 B.C.
1 And now, behold, my beloved brethren, I suppose that ye ponder somewhat in your hearts concerning that which ye should do after ye have entered in by the way. But, behold, why do ye ponder these things in your hearts?
2 Do ye not remember that I said unto you that after ye hadareceived the Holy Ghost ye could speak with the btongue of angels? And now, how could ye speak with the tongue of angels save it were by the Holy Ghost?
3 aAngels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, bfeast upon the cwords of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will dtell you all things what ye should do.
4 Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye aask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark.
5 For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will ashow unto you all things what ye should do.
6 Behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and there will be no more doctrine given until after he shall amanifest himself unto you in the flesh. And when he shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh, the things which he shall say unto you shall ye observe to do.
7 And now I, Nephi, cannot say more; the Spirit stoppeth mine utterance, and I am left to mourn because of the aunbelief, and the wickedness, and the ignorance, and the bstiffneckedness of men; for they will cnot search dknowledge, nor understand great knowledge, when it is given unto them in eplainness, even as plain as word can be.
8 And now, my beloved brethren, I perceive that ye ponder still in your hearts; and it grieveth me that I must speak concerning this thing. For if ye would hearken unto the aSpirit which teacheth a man to bpray, ye would know that ye must cpray; for the devil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray.
9 But behold, I say unto you that ye must apray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall bpray unto the Father in the cname of Christ, that he will dconsecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the ewelfare of thy soul.

Do we ever really heal, does our heart become whole?

As I sat in my closet talking to my brother on the phone, I just sobbed. My heart was so heavy.  With the daily trials and life trials that I was taking in upon my heart and soul I just broke down.

I talked to my brother for about a good hour and finally I was just broken.  I tried so hard to keep the tears in, I tried to NOT want to feel the real emotion.

Just when I feel like I'm doing fine it all hits.  All the emotions of the past REAL hard times that my heart hurt the most.

I THOUGHT I was o.k. with my sweet baby Haley going to Heaven.  I'm not.  I tell myself every time things get hard... why do we have to have so many trials?  The Lord has our first born child... we have given up SO much already.  I know I have a daughter and that is what kills me.  I'm her mom and I don't know anything about her? How old is she in heaven, what does she look like?  What does she like? Why can't I see her?

Oh what I would give to just see her in a dream.  Someone said to me one time that I can't see her or don't need to see her because she is o.k and i'm o.k.   Oh I wish I was o.k.

But  I yearn to have that child.  My little GIRL.

It comes in waves, that is for sure. I don't cry each day or maybe for even a couple of months and then something or someone will say something and it reminds me once again of what i'm missing and the cut of my heart is opened again.  Only to be closed by a bandaid that might or might not hold.

This is where i'm afraid, afraid that I will not have the faith to endure this life.  I feel beat down, I feel sometimes like I don't have the strength or even desire to want to learn what my journey is SUPPOSE to be.

My cancer, Steve's job, being a mother to a well spirited little boy, feeling like all I do for him is wrong and just trying each day to "obey the commandments" has my heart heavy.

I'm so blessed to have overcome my cancer and be cancer free for a year now.  Yet, i'm still drained of the thoughts of the medical bills.  Once again, this is where the thought "to be out of debt" from our prophets comes to mind.

I feel liked i'm pulled so many directions sometimes.  I just don't know which to go.  Has my Father in Heaven forgotten me or is this just some joke of the universe.   I hear what i'm suppose to do as a mother, wife and daughter of God, it is just hard to do what you are taught and suppose to do when i'm being pulled another direction.  I was missed church for about a month over the summer, and ya know what.. I was kinda surprised I didn't miss it.  Or did I?

So this is where I tell myself to FAKE IT TILL YA MAKE IT.....

I have found and seen the small blessings in our families life.  I try to positive!  I try to get something out of church each time I go even if I really want to just be at home relaxing with my family.  I was on Facebook and someone sent me a link to a challenge of reading the Book Of Mormon and so I took it. I needed something.. I had to do something or I needed to make a choice.  Is this what I really want or need in my life? Will the hard times end if I go to church and follow what I have been taught?  Will the Lord answer my plea for help in our family?  How do we turn it all over to the Lord?

Some days are easier to read, but for now I'm up to date.  I have tried to really ponder and have a clear thought.  I really do want to know the truth and feel the spirit in my life.  I really do want to feel the Lords love for me.

My brother said that to me at the end of our conversation.  He said Alicia, you need to pray to your Father in Heaven and ask him to love you a little tighter.  A way that I could see, understand and truly feel.  I know my life isn't any harder than the next person.   I just never thought I would stray away. Question anything.  I really need the Lords love,  I need to be carried because I don't think I can do it on my own anymore.

I'm turning my heart over to my Savior and Father in Heaven.  As I read the scriptures it talks so much about FAITH, REPENTANCE, OBEDIENCE and the lord is there even if we can's see him.  I have really put that to the test......  I need to rebuild my faith.  I do need to see.

2 Nephi 13 And that he amanifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the bHoly Ghost; yea, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, working mighty cmiracles, signs, and wonders, among the children of men according to their dfaith.

My brother reminded me that the pain I was feeling was so apparent  and that Heavenly Father was feeling  it even more.   As his daughter.  Oh how I cried.

Today, I pray, I pray even when I don't know what to pray for.  Even when I don't really want to.  I pray and have faith that my prayer will be answered.  I look for the answer in ways that I can understand.

I hope one day my heart will be at peace with all of this, I hope that Heavenly Father and Jesus know my name...... and hear me.

My Sunshine.....

No matter what Lord, I will praise Thee. 2 Nephi 4

As parents we do, do the BEST we can.
4 For the Lord God hath said that: aInasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall prosper in the land; and inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall be cut off from my presence.
5 But behold, my sons and my daughters, I cannot go down to my grave save I should leave a ablessing upon you; for behold, I know that if ye are bbrought up in the cway ye should go ye will not depart from it.
6 Wherefore, if ye are acursed, behold, I leave my blessing upon you, that the bcursing may be taken from you and be answered upon the cheads of your parents.

Nephi bares his Soul:
Chapters 17 - 35  I loved how Nephi pores out his soul.  How he overcame all of the trials.. by turning to the Lord.  AWESOME TO READ.  This is great to read in showing that someone that seems to have it all STILL, has trials, depression, saddness, yet he over comes it with the Lords love and help.

17 Nevertheless, notwithstanding the great agoodness of the Lord, in showing me his great and marvelous works, my heart exclaimeth: O bwretched man that I am! Yea, my heart csorrowethbecause of my flesh; my soul grieveth because of mine iniquities.
18 I am encompassed about, because of the temptations and the sins which do so easily abeset me.
19 And when I desire to rejoice, my heart groaneth because of my sins; nevertheless, I know in whom I have atrusted.
20 My God hath been my asupport; he hath led me through minebafflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep.
21 He hath filled me with his alove, even unto the bconsuming of my flesh.
22 He hath confounded mine aenemies, unto the causing of them to quake before me.
23 Behold, he hath heard my cry by day, and he hath given meaknowledge by bvisions in the night-time.
24 And by day have I waxed bold in mighty aprayer before him; yea, my voice have I sent up on high; and angels came down and ministered unto me.
25 And upon the wings of his Spirit hath my body been acarriedaway upon exceedingly high mountains. And mine eyes have beheld great things, yea, even too great for man; therefore I was bidden that I should not write them.
26 O then, if I have seen so great things, if the Lord in his condescension unto the children of men hath avisited men in so much bmercy, cwhy should my dheart weep and my soul linger in the valley of sorrow, and my flesh waste away, and my strength slacken, because of mine afflictions?
27 And why should I ayield to sin, because of my flesh? Yea, why should I give way to btemptations, that the evil one have place in my heart to destroy my cpeace and afflict my soul? Why am Idangry because of mine enemy?
28 Awake, my soul! No longer adroop in sin. Rejoice, O my heart, and give place no more for the benemy of my soul.
29 Do not aanger again because of mine enemies. Do not slacken my strength because of mine afflictions.
30 Rejoice, O my aheart, and cry unto the Lord, and say: O Lord, I will praise thee forever; yea, my soul will rejoice in thee, my God, and the brock of my salvation.
31 O Lord, wilt thou aredeem my soul? Wilt thou deliver me out of the hands of mine enemies? Wilt thou make me that I may shake at the appearance of bsin?
32 May the gates of hell be shut continually before me, because that my aheart is broken and my spirit is contrite! O Lord, wilt thou not shut the gates of thy righteousness before me, that I maybwalk in the path of the low valley, that I may be strict in the plain road!
33 O Lord, wilt thou encircle me around in the robe of thyarighteousness! O Lord, wilt thou make a way for mine escape before mine benemies! Wilt thou make my path straight before me! Wilt thou not place a stumbling block in my way—but that thou wouldst clear my way before me, and hedge not up my way, but the ways of mine enemy.
34 O Lord, I have atrusted in thee, and I will btrust in thee forever. I will not put my ctrust in the arm of flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his dtrust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm.

35 Yea, I know that God will give aliberally to him that asketh. Yea, my God will give me, if I bask cnot amiss; therefore I will lift up my voice unto thee; yea, I will cry unto thee, my God, the drockof my erighteousness. Behold, my voice shall forever ascend up unto thee, my rock and mine everlasting God. Amen
It was eye opening for me to see that "No Matter What, Lord I will Praise Thee"!  Nephi was so strong and he stayed strong and faithful and gave the Lord all of the praise even when times got hard.  He did question BUT then he still goes back to knowing that the Lord is his ROCK!   It was great reading for me.
