Having a blast in the box

Thanks to all my girlfriends for making it possible for us to get a new baby carseat. I used my money gifts for the carseat and stroller. We love it!! Thanks again you guys are wonderful!

Hunter was more interested in the box that the new babies car seat came in than the car seat.
We told him last night that we were going to bring baby brother home in the car seat and that he would be here with us in our family forever... and it was so funny to hear Hunter say FOREVER!! Hunter is getting use to the idea of a new baby around... Lets just see how he does when he is really here. I think we are going to go ahead and put the carseat in the car so he can see it and get use to it.
Hunter was having a blast in the box!

Are you kidding me!!!

I just have to laugh sometimes and think the Lord really has a sense of humor. Only 11 days till we deliver a new baby boy and the washing machine breaks. Things were going way to smoothly in the White house... LOL :)
Who has time or money for a new washing machine, Right!? Last night I was sitting in the living room and this loud noise was coming from the garage, when I went to see, it looked like the washing machine was going to walk right out of the garage.... needless to say... full of water and with Hunter's clothes in it.. it went straight to washing machine heaven... It served us for many many great years....So off to lowes we go to get a new one!!

Lessons learned one day at a time

I have been reading this book and I LOVE IT! I'm only half way thru it and I have practiced the concepts in my home with Steve, Hunter and me and they really work. Below is some info on the book. I'm not a huge book reader so when I find something I like I just had to pass it on. Hugs to all you special moms out there!

Synopsis
Dr. Sal Severe maintains that "children learn what they live -- your children do as you do." Based on Dr. Severe's more than twenty years of experience as a school psychologist and parenting workshop leader, How to Behave So Your Children Will, Too! shows why a child's behavior is often a reflection of the parents' behavior, and how, by making changes themselves, parents can achieve dramatic results in their children.

Instead of focusing on what children do wrong, this book teaches you what you can do right, by emphasizing the positive (reinforcing good behavior instead of criticizing your child), by being consistent (not giving in to misbehavior just to placate your child), and by being more patient, recognizing that children often operate on a different time schedule. It teaches you how to teach your children to behave, to listen -- the first time -- and to be more cooperative. It shows you how to manage your anger and how to prevent arguments and power struggles.

Dr. Severe also provides concrete strategies for dealing with common problems: solving homework hassles, ending tantrums (especially in public places), avoiding the temptation to give in to your child when you're exhausted, creating reasonable rules for every age, and making sure to take time for children even when you and your spouse are working full time. These methods are well tested, and are inspired by stories and ideas that Dr. Severe has gleaned from parents in his workshops over many years.

Originally self-published, this book has already helped hundreds of thousands of parents to make discipline simpler and their lives easier. It will help you, too. As a successful parent, you will teach your children important life skills -- and you will enjoy your children all the more.
